Project description:
The design of this single-family house in Red Hook Village, New York, is inspired by the simplicity of a traditional barn. The gable roofed cedar clad volume is nestled in its woodland setting atop a concrete base. One enters through the base and emerges into a double height living space overlooked by a lofted mezzanine. The interior volume mirrors the simplicity of the exterior form with a gabled ceiling spanning the length of the house. The articulation is simple and budget conscious with select openings framing views to the landscape.
