Project name:

City lights apartment

Project description:

Located on the 39th floor of Long Island City’s ‘City Lights’ building, this renovation included subdividing an existing apartment into two separate units and renovating the primary unit for the owner. The apartment had dated finishes and required layout modifications. The plan included renovation of the entire apartment, opening up the kitchen and creating a master suite.

A system of millwork elements was created to tie together disparate features of the unit to create a seamless and fluid design. The kitchen drop arch, a gas riser that could not be moved, and existing closets were all wrapped in a white oak finish. The white oak finish was applied to the opposite wall to wrap existing columns and, together with a plaster fireplace surround and wall, frame a media wall.
